Curmudgeons unite! Deadline reports that Curb Your Enthusiasm, the long-running comedy from Larry David, will be returning for a 9th season on HBO following a five-year absence. The show, which stars David as a fictionalized version of himself dealing with life, premiered back in 2000 with two year breaks between many of the seasons. The announcement was made at the Banff World Media Festival by HBO’s head of programming Casey Bloys. David has kept busy in-between the seasons, co-writing and starring in the HBO comedy film Clear History and portraying Democratic Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live.
I’m all for another season as Curb is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. I see a lot of myself in David, which is either a positive thing or means I’m going to die alone. Either or. No word on when the season will shoot or if the other cast members will return (I don’t see why they wouldn’t) but it’s coming and that’s all that matters.
